Bio & Contact Info

I use twig-words to build my nest. Inside it I place my plot, characters, theme and voice, being careful not to crush their fragile shells. I nurture them until they’ve hatched and sprouted strong wings.  The fledglings fly from the nest – a small flock ready to make its way in the wide world. *Ugly Fact: weaklings may be ejected from the nest. Rhiann Wynn-Nolet

B&WMe

I write YA/NA Fiction and am represented by the brilliant Stefanie Lieberman of

Janklow & Nesbit Associates

I grew up in a small town in Massachusetts. Most of my childhood was spent drawing and playing in the woods, where I had a wonderful tree house. I also spent many hours reading to my cat, after cornering him in the bathroom and dressing him in baby clothes. This says more about my stubborn streak than it does about his enjoyment of literature, or baby clothes.

During my teen years, aside from cultivating doomed crushes on unobtainable boys, I devoted my time to horses, art, and all things Tudor. I was a geek with a double life and two mutually exclusive sets of friends. That’s all I’ll say publicly.

After switching majors at least half a dozen times, I graduated college with a BA in Psychology and Art. I was also awarded a scholarship and attended an art college in Boston. Painting a picture and writing a book have more in common than one might think, but writing generally requires less clean-up.

After living almost all my adult life in New England (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine), we recently moved to North Carolina.

Here are some of the things I’ve done for a living- stable hand, day care teacher, counselor, retail manager, copy writer, administrative assistant. Though I come from a long line of book lovers and word-junkies, my Freshman English professor, may she rot in, er, rest in peace, scared me away from creative writing for years after college ended. However, once I started, I quickly became addicted. As a reader, I long for unforgettable characters, whose stories are filled with family dysfunction, true love, and complex emotion. I adore beautiful prose and symbolism. I try to write the kind of books I want to read.

A Few of My Favorite Things: Gothic atmosphere (fog, ruins, cemeteries, candlelight, Halloween), shabby velvet, vintage jewelry, chocolate, the ocean, Jack Russell Terriers (I have two).

My Mottoes  It’s Never Too Late. Say Thank You. Get Your Flounce On.

RaNDom THinGs – Orange is a hideously unflattering color on me. I used to have a mohawk. One of my ancestors was hanged as a witch. I can wiggle my ears.

Out of respect for my family I won’t talk about them here (except my dogs because they care so little about privacy that they relieve themselves in public).

Wander around, make yourself at home. I love comments and always respond to the nice ones.
